We left the dock this morning at 5am with great fishing conditions. We fished north in 120-140 feet of water. Our best setup was blue and chrome flasher with a aqua fly on 300 feet of copper line behind a Ziggy planer board. Also a meat rig on our deepest rigger worked well at 100-110 feet down. We ended our trip with 12 king salmon and 3 rainbow trout.
Due to bad weather Saturday morning, the Coho Derby Super Derby was postponed until Sunday morning. The High Roller fishing team took 5th place overall in the Super Derby, 2nd place in the Brown Trout category, 2nd place in Coho salmon category, and 4th place Chinook (King) salmon category. A big "Thank You" to The Wharf for holding this event again and for all their hard work!!!
My 2 buddies, my dad and i are on the "High Roller" tonight. We are getting geared up for the annual "Coho Derby" sponsored by "The Wharf" along Sheboygans boardwalk. It is one of the biggest fishing tournaments in Sheboygan and its a family tradition for me to participate in it! My dad fished the first coho derby 42 years ago! Then he took me along 4 years later and him and i havent missed a Coho Derby scince! I cant wait to fish tomorrow!
August fishing is starting hot, just like the weather! Another limit catch in 2 hours of 11 king salmon and 4 rainbow trout! Chrome and blue flashers with green flies was our best setup on 150, and 200 foot copper lines. We were fishing in 80 to 200 feet of water off of sheboygans power plant.
